Catherine
Miss Catherine was born and raised in Roanoke Rapids, NC. She began dancing at the age of 2 at her grandmother’s dance studio, Myrick School of Dance. She graduated from Appalachian State University with a BA in Arts, studying theatre and dance. While in college, Miss Catherine was on the Appalachian State Clogging team performing at many school and area events. She was a feature dancer in Horn In The West outdoor drama. After graduation, she returned to her hometown and taught dance at Myrick School of Dance and in the Halifax County Schools. She performed clogging in the Miss Roanoke Rapids pageant where she won the title and then went on to perform in the Miss North Carolina pageant.
After moving to Idaho in 1998, Miss Catherine taught for Backstage Dance in Meridian and Nampa. When moving to Montrose, she was blessed to be able to continue teaching dance.
Miss Catherine has had dance instruction, not only from her grandmother, Margie Myrick, but also from other well-known dancers and instructors such as Luigi, Jerry Rose, Tommy Tune, Tony Coppolla and Kit Andree, to name a few.
Miss Catherine has performed in and created choreography for many musicals including Oklahoma, Fiddler on the Roof, Paint Your Wagon, and Pride and Prejudice. She has performed in acting parts such as, Shelby in Steel Magnolias, Tatiana in A Midsummer Nights Dream and Cecily in The Odd Couple.
She started A Time To Dance in 2004, to share her passion with others, which has been a dream of hers for a long time.
A note from Miss Catherine….
I feel so blessed to be teaching so many wonderful dance students! When I am not dancing, I enjoy gardening and spending time with my family, friends and our 3 kitties. I enjoy painting at Amazing Glaze. I am an American Cancer Society volunteer with the Road To Recovery program, which gives rides to and from the cancer center for patients that have no other means of transportation.
I look forward to seeing each of you throughout the year! Thanks for the fun and remember to find A Time To Dance!
